Holaday-Parks Achieves UPC & NSF-61 Certification Milestone

HP Ensures Safe Drinking Water

We are proud to announce that Holaday-Parks has completed a rigorous certification process resulting in both UPC (Uniform Plumbing Code) approval through IAPMO R&T and NSF-61 (National Sanitation Foundation) certification for our shop fabricated stainless steel welded assemblies. Holaday-Parks is the ONLY fabrication shop to meet Public Health – Seattle/King County’s stringent requirements for shop fabricated assemblies installed within potable domestic water piping systems. Other contractors must purchase fittings from an outside source at a much higher cost and could be susceptible to price fluctuations and availability concerns. With our in-house capabilities, these concerns are eliminated.

“We are very excited to provide our customers with UPC & NSF-61 certified stainless products from our in-house fab shop. NSF-61 is the benchmark for potable water purity, so we’re proud to have their approval,” says Pete Mahoney, Plumbing Fab Shop Foreman. “Providing this official certification is such an outstanding benefit to our customers,” adds Mahoney.

What does NSF-61 Certification Mean?

NSF-61 certification covers all products with drinking water contact―from the water source to the faucet. You might have noticed NSF certification stickers on common plumbing products for your home (see below). These stickers represent a thorough series of tests the product has passed to meet the relevant NSF standard. Just like these products, but on a much larger scale, HP’s stainless steel fabricated fittings have also been tested for contaminants that might be extracted into the water. These products are now officially certified by NSF as meeting the NSF-61 requirements in hot and cold potable water systems.

What is UPC Certificate of Listing?

In addition to NSF testing for contaminants, additional testing and certification were provided through IAPMO R&T to ensure our shop-fabricated assemblies were not only safe for contact with potable water but that they met the material strength and dimensional properties required to ensure a long-lasting and robust installation. HP fabricated assemblies have been tested to IAPMO standard PS 53-2021 and are authorized to bear the UPC shield.

Compliant vs. Certification – There is a BIG Difference

While some plumbing and piping equipment is listed as “Compliant with the NSF Standards”—this does not mean that it was evaluated, tested, and certified like at HP. Certification is a complex process and is not granted to all that apply.

“We had to fulfill several steps and pass rigorous testing by a third party that thoroughly examined every aspect of our fabrication process in addition to extensive laboratory analysis of our products,” says Mahoney. “And we couldn’t be happier to add this certification for a top-level confidence for our customers.”

In addition to this certification, HP will also participate in an ongoing audit that ensures continued use of the process and materials that meet these high standards that safeguard customer water consumption.
